Physical
description: Due to a childhood
of starvation, Estrie is smaller than his
identical twin brother Destry, standing
only 5'7 and an agile 115 lbs. He wears
his auburn hair short like his brother
Miralas, showing off his handsome angular
features and the strange metallic gold
eyes that hint at his dragon ancestry.
Like Miralas, he favors black clothing,
open-necked shirts, body hugging
lightweight pants, black silk gloves, and
swashbuckler boots, a flat-brimmed black
hat adorned with a griffon feather
completing the outfit.

Personality:
Estreael comes off as 100%
street tough, cocky and unflinching.
Inside, however, is a young man struggling
with a traumatic past and a broken soul.
Under the brash exterior he is caring and
even kindhearted, but he is afraid to show
it openly. Image is everything on the
streets and Estreael has his perfected.
Connected in his fractured soul to his
older brother Miralas, Estreael struggles
for independence but is terrified by the
thought of losing the brother who has
basically been a father to him for most of
his life, and who he adores as his
personal hero. He had convinced himself
that love was a weakness he was incapable
of falling to, but the simple but honest
understanding and caring he has gotten
from the former pirate Angel Marie has
broken through that stone defense around
his heart and he is deeply committed to
the woman who will soon become his wife.
This is not to say he will not lose his
focus at the slightest frustration and try
to escape back into his safety net of
unfeeling isolation, but Angie and Miry
are always able to win him back.

Abilities:
Growing up on the streets of
Garnet with his brother Miralas, Estrie
trained as a thief to survive, becoming
second in skills only to Miry. He learned
fencing from his brother as well once they
went to live with their siblings at the
Tower of the Suns in Qualinost, and as
Miry's favorite sparring partner has great
skill as a bladesman. He is good with
throwing daggers, but lacks the utter
focus that gives his twin brother his
uncanny aim. He can exercise incredible
stealth and makes an excellent spy.
Although he speaks in street slang and has
little formal education, he is a voracious
reader and quite intelligent, especially
good at math. He is currently protected
from his silver dragon blood, which will
emerge on his 99th birthday, because until
his fractured soul is healed, the ice
magic power of it would result in him
being a deadly wild mage.
Items:
Mithral rapier (+4), pair of
enhanced throwing daggers (+3), fire
dagger (+2, becomes fireball when thrown),
returning dagger (+1, returns to his hand
at command), boots of spider climb, gloves
of spider climb, firebane cloak
(protection from flame, invisible to
normal and infrared vision), ring of cool
breezes (protection from heat), bracers
(protection equivalent to light
chainmail)

Estreael
and his twin were conceived as a result of a rape
by their father, insane elven prince Arelas, on a
wilder elf servant in his household. The girl
escaped a few months later, struggling to find her
way back to the forests she was born in. Near to
giving birth and caught by storms in the dangerous
Khalkist mountains, she was captured by a mated
pair of red dragons. Seeing that she carried twins,
the dragons devised an evil scheme, ripping the
babes from her body and capturing their souls into
crystals in order to provide helpless slaves for
their twin hatchlings Myrlich and Krychys. The
elder twin was named Estreael, or cave rat, then
given to Myrlich and separated from his brother
Destrias.
With his soul trapped in the crystal and subject
to instantaneous and cruel punishment, Estreael was
obedient to his dragon master, although he longed
for freedom and the chance to escape. He lived for
the yearly visits of his master's twin, when his
own twin brother would be allowed to see him,
although not to speak to him. To overcome this
obstacle, Estrie devised a sign language
representation to say "I love you" to Destry, and
his twin was quick to pick up and return it. By
bizarre circumstances, Miralas, the elder
half-brother of the twins, travelled back in time,
having met the twins as they were in a seperte
timeline having spent their entire lives under the
dragons, irreperably crushed in spirit. With the
grace of the gods he was able to free the twins and
destroy their persecutors. The twins were then
turned over to the care of their siblings in their
timeline, Estrie going to the young Miralas, living
on the streets of Garnet, and Destry taken to
Miralas' sister Relansa, living with her mother,
stepfather, and half-sister in a human fishing
village on Southern Ergoth. None of the children
knew of their true relationships. To free their
souls from the crystals, they were sent through the
souls of their guardian siblings, forever forging a
deep soul-bond.
To Estrie, the wild and dangerous streets of
Garnet were freedom he had never known. Under the
tutelage of Miralas, then going by the name of
Aaron, Estrie became an able thief and pickpocket,
the two barely surviving constant scrapes and cruel
beatings from the masters of the thieves guild they
belonged to, but thriving in their tight bond to
each other. When Relansa, now a princess in the
elven court, and Destrias, acting as her servant,
came to find their lost siblings, they were shocked
at the conditions the two lived in and immediately
brought them back to the Tower of the Suns.
Estreael's wilder elf blood forced him to, like
Destry, act as his half-brother's servant in the
elven court. However, unlike the compliant Destry,
Estrie was outraged by even the appearance of
captivity and devoted himself to making as much
trouble as he could without being executed.
Miralas, not much happier with the constraints of
royalty, encouraged him in his antics and protected
him to the best of his ability from the
consequences, but their cousins Porthios and
Gilthanas, the true princes and sons of the Speaker
of the Suns who had been given responsibility for
Miralas' upbringing, made no effort to hide their
dislike for the prankster street rat Miralas kept
as his serving boy. Having his own resentment and
dislike for them, this hardly kept Estrie from his
open acts of malice and rebellion.
When the twins' features began to show their
bloodline in such a way that not even Porthios, by
then Speaker of the Suns himself, was able to deny
it, Porthios was forced by obligation to family to
give both boys the protection of House Royal,
freeing them from the roles they ad been forced to
play. Destrias pleaded with Estreael to let the
past be the past and forgive Porthios for his
former arrogance, but Estreael was not as gentle or
as understanding as his twin on the matter. Only
when Miralas also begged him to try to get along
with their cousin did Estreael make an attempt at
peace. Porthios, for his part, was loathe to be as
publicly associated with the known thief and
brigand Estreael had become as he was with
Destrias, who was lawful, honorable, and understood
the graces of the court. However, he grudgingly
accepted Gilthanas' proposal that he give Estrie a
chance, and upon finding that Estrie had an
absolute gift with numbers, made him his assistant
and royal accountant. With the chance to prove his
capability in an honest profession and not about to
let Porthios have any excuse for slighting him
again, Estrie accomplished evey task before him
with a practical outlook that earned him Porthios'
respect. Porthios soon added to Estrie's duties the
necessary but distasteful to most job of spying and
other covert operations. With his training as a
thief Estrie excelled and was soon a regular
companion of ambassadors and envoys, gathering
vital information for Porthios. The healing of the
relationship between Porthios and Estrie began,
with Porthios learning to trust his young cousin's
instincts and Estrie appreciating Porthios' courage
and leadership skills.
On one of his trips to help his cousin, Estrie
met a pretty human pirate named Angel Marie.
Finding in each other kindred spirits, the two
eventually fell in love, Angel leaving the
dishonest life that was all she had ever known to
learn, as Estrie was still doing, how to become
part of society, thinking of more than profit and
self-survival to work, however behind the scenes,
for good.

Estreael
is my lost soul, caught in a cycle of hurting and
being hurt. Unlike Destrias, Estrie internalizes
his pain and hides from it, burying his feelings
until they make him explode, lashing out at those
around him to keep from getting to the root of the
problem, too afraid to face his own past. Angel
Marie, played by my friend Evil Drew, is the
perfect foil for his tempestuous personality, able
to in her simple way accept him even when his
behavior is unacceptable, and bit by bit earning
his complete trust, while giving him space to heal
at his own pace.
